United Way of Central and Northeastern CT and United Way of the Pioneer Valley would like to say thanks!! Thanks to the generosity of volunteers, spectators, and members of the greater Suffield community, the Extreme Food Drive collected 5,818 pounds of food to be given to Foodshare in Bloomfield, CT and Food Bank of Western Massachusetts in Hatfield, MA to feed numerous people throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts. Special thanks to Gloria McAdam of Foodshare and Andrew Morehouse of Food Bank for providing their expertise, bins, pallets and support to this project. Special thanks to Boy Scouts from throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts who manned the food drive tents from Tuesday through Sunday, led by Bob Sanford of Sanford and Hawley, Unionville, CT. Thanks to Linda Peters for referring these volunteers to us. Special thanks to Dan Siracusa of Siracusa Moving and Storage of New Britain, CT for providing transportation and storage of food during the week. Special thanks to Janet Frechette and her board of directors and volunteers from Suffield Emergency Aid Association for setting up and running the food drive site at Suffield Middle School, the site of the American Red Cross blood drive. Thanks to Dan O’Connor for making the connection at the school for us. Special thanks to Jim White and Gary Stone at GoGraphix of East Longmeadow, MA for providing signage for the food drive tents. Special thanks to Sanford and Hawley for hosting local food drives and distributing the food to local food banks and agencies. Special thanks to Paul Robbins of Paul Robbins and Associates and Patrick McMahon of the Town of Suffield for publicizing our food drive throughout the Town of Suffield and beyond. Special thanks to Peter Rosskothen for providing the tents for the food drive volunteers. This was a great team effort that collected much needed food which will help many people throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts. Chris Daniels and I appreciate everyone’s help and support throughout the planning and execution of this great community event. |
